AUTHENTIC FINE THAI FOOD SERVED IN THAI INSPIRED SURROUNDINGS

OUR HISTORY

Saisunee and Alan Pettitt founded The Thai Barn in 1998. Originally, the restaurant was located in Bridge Street, in the building where the town’s blacksmith used to ply his trade.

This historic building was refurbished and redecorated so that the Thai Barn could develop its own unique character and ambiance. Expert staff was recruited and a carefully chosen menu planned. Within the first year the good word spread and The Thai Barn became very well known; it had many rave reviews in newspapers and astonishing support from regular customers both locally and from surrounding areas.

 

Eleven years later, in 2009, the increasingly popular Thai Barn moved to St Margaret’s Street, where it has a more central position in the town and is nearer to two large parking areas. In this prime location, the restaurant has an increased floor capacity to provide a much more spacious dining experience and also has a secluded outdoor patio eating area designed to look like an oriental secret garden.

Our Thai meals offer a combination of five flavours, sweet, hot, sour, salty and sometimes bitter. The balance of flavour, texture and colour in our dishes creates a complex taste experience that makes Thai food so delicate and magical.

 

Usually, when eating Thai food, there will be other dishes on hand including a soup, a curry, steamed or fried dishes and a salad with one or two sauces.

 

This adds variety to the meal and makes it that little bit more enjoyable and special.
